5/8" bowl gouge vs 5/8" u-shaped bowl gouge
Our 5/8" u-shaped bowl gouge, also known as a 'bottom-feeder', has a 60º grind, while our 5/8" bowl gouge has a 50º grind. The tools have slightly different flute shapes as well. Our 5/8" u-shaped bowl gouge is specifically designed for removing stock from the bottom of the bowl. Our 5/8" bowl gouge is a versatile tool and can be used to turn your bowl from start to finish.
When I purchase through the online store, how quickly will my tools ship?
We ship out your tools the same day you order them as long as you order before 3pm (Pacific Time). When you checkout you will have two shipping options: standard shipping (your tool will generally arrive in 5-7 business days) or 2-day priority shipping (guaranteed 2-day delivery). All tools will ship with USPS unless you request otherwise. As soon as your tools have shipped you will receive an email notification and a tracking number.
What is your return policy and warranty?
We are happy to offer an exchange or refund for any tools you are not completely satisfied with. Please see our policies page for our complete warranty.
Can I purchase one handle and use it for lots of tools?
Yes, our tools are completely interchangeable.

Three sizes of adapters, 5/8”, 1/2” and 3/8” fit either length of our 3/4” diameter handle. Start with our signature 16” x 3/4” or 12” x 3/4” handle then add tools and corresponding adapters. One handle - every tool.

Where exactly are the tools made?
All of our tools are made in our own factory in Seattle and all the steel is American-made as well. We personally manufacture the tools in our own facility to ensure that every tool you receive is nothing but the best.
Why M42 HSS?
M42 is an extremely durable, sharp grade of High Speed Steel. Not only is M42 HSS much sharper than other grades of steel, it is also much stronger because of its 10% cobalt content. This cobalt content allows us to heat-treat our tools to 68 HRC, providing you with razor-sharp, unbelievably strong tools. Actually, M42 has a history of use in manufacturing firms around the world, cutting metal. Therefore, M42 cuts wood with no problem. Your turning will be smoother and cleaner, you'll even use less sandpaper!
